SFT and GWA, GKA clinics connect with Abu Dhabi community

International pro riders share experience first hand with UAE watersports' enthusiasts

The GKA, GWA and SFT Surf Foil World Tour are to stage clinics for kiting, winging and foiling to enable the international athletes to engage with local school children and experienced watersports enthusiasts.

Each day, on the sidelines of the kite, wing and foiling World Cups at Abu Dhabi, presented by Aldar, the professional athletes will be on hand to introduce groups of children to kiteboarding, wingfoiling or hydrofoiling.

Other daily clinics in the late afternoon are aimed at adults with some experience of any of the three sports. The hour-long clinics will enable the sports enthusiasts to meet the pro athletes to discuss their watersports' passion.

"With so much action going on here in Abu Dhabi," said Liam Dredge, "we're really focusing in with some off-the-water clinics, diving deep into connecting with the riders and connecting with the local community."

The focus of the groups of school children is to introduce youngsters to watersports they may not have already encountered.

"It's a really nice introduction for them to understand the sports a little bit deeper, learning from the best in the world," said Dredge.

For the adults with a little experience, it is an opportunity to meet and learn from the pros about their riding, training, equipment and spots around the world, in the relaxed setting of the Fahid Island Watersports Festival.

"The great thing about this is that they can get to connect with one or two, or even more of the pro riders who are here competing in Abu Dhabi," said Dredge. "So it's a really nice experience for those that haven't ever tried one of these watersports, but for those who follow our tours to connect with riders."
