SFT E-FOIL TOUR LEUCATE 2025
17 April 2025
Leucate, France – April 17, 2025
The Surf Foil World Tour powered into Leucate, France with a thrilling SFT E-Foil racing event, held in collaboration with PWR Foil during the iconic Mondial du Vent festival. What unfolded was not only a showcase of cutting-edge technology and athleticism but also a battle against some of the most extreme conditions the sport has ever seen.
With winds blasting between 30 to 40 knots, this was arguably one of the windiest foil races ever recorded. The course was slightly modified to adapt to the ferocious gusts, shifting the focus from pure speed to technical performance and board control. This adjustment proved crucial in maintaining rider safety and ensuring competitive racing.
Among the competitors, three French riders rose above the chaos, all of them riding for PWR Foil, who also served as the event’s foil brand sponsor. Their experience and familiarity with such wild conditions gave them the edge to claim the podium:
SFT E-Foil Podium – Leucate Stop:
- 1st Place: Christophe Defrance (France)
- 2nd Place: Zephir Bertrand (France)
- 3rd Place: Leo Jauzy (France)
The PWR Foil team’s dominance under these conditions was a testament to both their equipment and their training in variable wind environments.
A huge shout-out to all the riders who kept the stoke high and their spirits unshaken, delivering a thrilling spectacle in front of a packed crowd — thanks to Mondial du Vent for hosting one of Europe’s premier watersports festivals and providing an incredible stage to showcase the excitement and progression of the efoil sport.
Stay tuned for more action and a full recap from Leucate as the festival shifts gears to host the SFT Pump Foil World Cup. From there, the Tour heads to Sicily, Italy for more E-Foil and Pump Foil racing at the Water Festival, May 1-4, 2025 - registration is still open).
