The Surf Foil World Tour (SFT) made history this week in Abu Dhabi, hosting the first-ever SFT Wake Foil World Cup as part of the Fahid Island Watersports Festival, presented by Aldar.

After a successful Day 1 of training, Day 2 began with time trials that determined the seeding for the finals in both the Strapless and Straps divisions. Riders from nine countries showcased their skills, innovation, and technical precision behind the towboat on the calm waters of the Arabian Gulf.

Through the Surf Foil World Tour YouTube livestream, audiences witnessed every wave, trick, and landing of the two discipline finals, in real time β€” connecting the global foiling community and capturing the sport’s unique blend of performance and creativity.


Event Format

The competition featured two separate disciplines: Strapless and Straps.

  • Each rider completed two passes in Round 1.
  • Their best single pass/wave counted toward the overall score.
  • The top 4 athletes with the highest scores advanced to the finals in each discipline.
