SFT Pump Foil World Cup Leucate: Two Days of Action-Packed Foiling at Mondial du Vent

The SFT Pump Foil World Cup Leucate 2025 at Mondial du Vent delivered two days of high-energy competition and community stoke, set against the stunning shoreline of Leucate, France.

Day 1 – Dock Start Races Take Off

Bright and early on April 18th, with glassy conditions on the water, 20 top pump foilers gathered to battle for a share of the €5,000 prize purse. Riders were given two solo time-trial attempts to clock their best lap, which determined their seeding in the knockout group rounds.

Group races featured 4–5 riders starting simultaneously on custom-built dock start ladders — specifically designed for this event — allowing for a clean, multi-rider launch. The top two finishers from each group advanced to the finals.

In the first final heat, Edan Fiander took the win, followed closely by Benjamin May. In the second final heat, Lou Thouin surged to the front, with Benjamin again in second, while Edan crashed off the start.

As the wind picked up later in the afternoon, the day wrapped before the Downwind competition could begin.

Day 2 – Tow-In Downwind Racing Heats Up

Day 2 brought strong winds and choppy water, prompting a course redesign and the introduction of jetski tow-ins to get riders up and pumping. The new format brought out a wave of excitement and tight competition, especially between Day 1 winner Benjamin May, French standout Lou Thouin, and the ever-consistent Edouard Tournier.

In a thrilling final round, Lou Thouin laid down an explosive, technical performance that sealed his victory — showcasing his unique style and next-level control on the foil.
